Timeline Navigation

This website includes an interactive timeline which explores the health and environmental implications of Hamilton’s Steel Industry. We encourage you to follow along to learn about how the Hamilton Harbour has evolved. By scrolling through the timeline page, you will find chronological details about the industry and its effects. For key points on the timeline, click the “Read More” button to be directed to a page which includes a long-form description of the events which took place in that year. For easy access to these pages, you can also use the “Key Points” tab on the navigation bar at the top of the website and then click on the year you want to learn more about. If you would prefer to listen to the information, we have included audio files for each section. To start listening to the file, simply press the triangular play button located next to the section you would like to hear. Audio files for the long-form explanations are included on both the timeline and the page linked by the “Read More” button. In order to facilitate understanding, we have additionally included hyperlinks to external sites for some more complex terminology. These sites will offer a more comprehensive definition of the given term. Terms with hyperlinks will be underlined in blue. In order to open a hyperlink, simply double-click on the blue, underlined word and a new page will open.
